Sacred Rage
A Somatic & Relational Workshop in Anger, Boundaries, and Healthy Aggression
Saturday August 8th, 12-5pm
Pacific Hedge School at Wild Hawthorn Homestead, Gabriola Island
The healthy expression of anger has been suppressed and punished in women and femme folks for centuries, resulting in a complicated relationship with this protective instinct and emotion.
In the face of ongoing collective and personal violation and injustice, more women are feeling the mobilizing swell of rage and the need to effectively connect with ways to express the life force of this energy.
In this workshop we will explore:
Early messaging and modelling around anger within family of origin and culture
What happens when anger is suppressed or dissociated
The instinctual, somatic mobilizing energy of healthy aggression and its link to power and safety
Anger as a relational tool for creating boundaries and satisfying relationships
Rage and anger as feminine through the capacity for alchemical cycles of protection, destruction, and creation
We will engage with this experientially through:
Creative self inquiry and group process
Vocalization, communication, and witnessing practices
Core somatic protective actions for discharging rage including push, pull, strike, and throw
Playfulness and safety in nature to titrate and integrate new experiences
Metabolizing anger into creative life force
Skillful facilitation with licensed and experienced health professionals and somatic therapists
