The Land

Wild Hawthorn is on 5 acres of mostly forested land within the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw people on Gabriola Island, BC. Encircled by trees for privacy, it includes a therapeutic studio, several food and medicine gardens, trails, a fire circle and a private residence. 

Wild Hawthorn is home to an abundance of plants species, fungi, domestic and wild animals. The land is tended with care, prioritizing the use of natural and repurposed materials, preserving the natural forest ecosystem, and increasing biodiversity and abundance. 

Gabriola Island is a Southern Gulf Island in the Salish Sea and is a thriving community of 5000 people including many artists, farmers and wellness practitioners. It is easily accessible by a 25 minute ferry from Nanaimo, and float plane from Vancouver and YVR airport.

The Studio

The 600 sq ft studio was thoughtfully built using resources from the land and offers a bright, open space for workshops, gatherings, therapeutic programs, and creative retreats. It includes a composting toilet, rainwater plumbing system, kitchenette, and a cozy wood stove for year round comfort.

The surrounding property features forest trails, food and medicine gardens, a fire circle, and abundant wildlife, creating a quiet setting that supports reflection, learning, and connection.

A full kitchen and spacious deck are available in the main house for outdoor meals, with catering or food preparation available for select programs. Basic props, tables, floor cushions, and lighting can also be provided as needed.

Whether you're planning a workshop, retreat, community gathering, or private event, the studio can be rented for a variety of offerings.
